Annemarie Mostert: A Trailblazer in Education Nominated for Woman of Stature Awards
Johannesburg, 4 December 2023 – Annemarie Mostert, CEO of Mila Services, is not just a business leader but a transformative force dedicated to empowering women and children through education and community initiatives. Her recent nomination for the prestigious Woman of Stature Awards in the Education category is a well-deserved recognition and it comes as a testament to her unwavering commitment of her exceptional contributions to society.
With an impressive background in education and a passion for empowering young minds, Annemarie has consistently demonstrated leadership and innovation in her roles. Her philanthropic journey and passion for performing arts are awe-inspiring, marked by her role as a founding member of The National Eisteddfod and Sešego Foundation, ventures that have positively impacted millions of learners and vulnerable community members. Annemarie’s unique leadership and passion in education was spotlighted by the late Professor Kadar Asmal. In 2007 she was appointed by the then MEC of Education in Gauteng, our current Minister Angelina Motshekga, to serve on the board of the FET College and was a member for 8 years. Initiatives like the Alexandra Motswedi Skills Training Centre, which she initiated, trained thousands of young professionals. This has left an indelible mark, providing business opportunities and hope for countless lives.
She is an Ambassador for the Institute for Economics and Peace, Rotary International Girls’ Empowerment and a Global Ambassador for the My Body Is My Body programme, which aims to address critical issues related to child safety and well-being. This international initiative focuses on educating children about their rights and promoting awareness about personal boundaries, fostering a safer environment for the younger generation.
In 2016, Annemarie receives the International Responsible Business Owner Award at the United Nations, Rotary open day in New York. “Creativity, curiosity and collaboration are the tools which bring heart and passion to any organisation or business. Being intentional gives me a voice and a choice,” said Annemarie.
The Woman of Stature Awards, known for celebrating exceptional women across various fields, has recognised Annemarie’s outstanding contributions to education.
